Last but one day

Coming out of Glen Lee yesterday. Leaving the big hills as I get nearer the coast. No rain but a strong following wind. M

Spent last nite at Tarfside t the top of Glen Esk. Back 2 civilisation! What storms? What ash cloud?

Picture is river Esk. Followed the river down to Edzell, & am in a campsite now, no more wild camps & bothies! Only 5 miles from the sea. M

Wet, wild and windy day: To Loch Muick

Wet windy & wild 2day. Just getting my head down & walking 2 Loch Muick then further.

Stayed in visitor centre with others last nite out of the rain. At Lock Muick. M

By Balmoral Castle

Sun I am going thro Balmoral estate 2 a royal bothy. Passed Braemar Castle on the way. M

Spent Sat eating, drinking, chatting in Braemar. I'm outside the cafe offering meals 2 challengers. M

Bynach Mho, Fords of A'an, Derry Lodge and half a day off!

Fri morn, there's been snow & I'm going that way. Seen worse & wind has gone. M

Climbed all that way. Bothy in distance. 

On top more snow but sun is out. Mt is Bynach Mhor but did not go up, too windy.

Fri quite hard day. Strong headwind & hail showers, went S 2 Glen Derry & had 2 wade river at Fords of A'an. Camped at Derry Lodge. 

Nice c-site in trees. Packed up a dry tent! Rain forecast. Going 2 Braemar 4 supplies & half day off. 

Mar Lodge, not staying there, just went 4 cup of tea. Was built by Edward V11, nice.

Stopped by Loch Garton 2 see the ospreys. 

Now walking into Cairngorms & hope 2 stay at Ryvoan Bothy 2nite. Weather has been windy, seems less now, hope it stays like that.

Day 6

Heading up into the Monadliath mountains in search of a nice dry campsite.

Walking along R Findhorn. The kirk isn't easy 2 get 2.

Up & over another hill, I left other people I had been walking with only 2 find a dog! Going 2 Carrbridge.

Going well, 2day 1st day I have not had 2 wear waterproof. Getting warmer & i am getting fitter. M

Had 3 gd days walking in gr8 mountains.

Had some rain... Also some sun!

Heading 4 Loch Ness 2day.

Day 2

Next day climbed over pass into Glen leading 2 Strathfarrar. Now out in wild country. Hard walking jumping streams & peat hags. Nice campsite in glen at Inchvult 2 dry out. M

TGO 2011: First Night in Scotland

After more than 11 hours of travelling,  a night in the tent before starting the TGO 2011 Challenge

First night camped by Lochan nr Piat Logde. Lots of wind & rain, scared I might get flooded. Just escaped by a few inches! M
